Join South Florida’s Coastal Restoration Day, a community-led initiative to rebuild delicate coastal ecosystems, and contribute to the answer. Volunteers will take part in a range of tasks, such as assessing the water quality, clearing plastic and debris from beaches, and planting mangroves to stop coastal erosion. In addition to providing vital breeding grounds for marine species, mangroves are crucial in defending coastal areas against storm surges. Experts will discuss the value of healthy coasts and the ways that climate change is impacting marine ecosystems at educational stations that will be set up throughout the day. A certificate of participation, teaching materials, and tools for additional conservation activities will be included in each participant’s Coastal Guardian Kit. There will be lunch and refreshments for everyone.
